NSICT represents India’s maiden venture into private-public partnership in the ports sector. Despite its long history, the terminal continues to be a cornerstone for the shipping fraternity. Nestled at Jawaharlal Nehru Port, India’s largest gateway to container trade, DP World Nhava Sheva remains the nation’s preferred container gateway, showcasing unwavering prominence in the face of growing competition.

Certified for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 27001 management systems, DP World Nhava Sheva holds the distinction of being India’s first ISO 28000 security-certified marine terminal since December 2008. This certification underscores its commitment to world-class standards and security in container handling.

Terminal Infrastructure


Operating with a limited quay length of 600 meters, DP World Nhava Sheva has consistently handled an annual throughput well over its designed capacity of 600,000 TEUs. The terminal’s achievement of “TEU per Quay meter” of 2,562 TEUs in 2010-11 remains among the highest in the world.

State-of-the-art infrastructure, including 8 super-post Panamax Quay cranes, 26 Diesel RTGs, video wall, PTZ CCTV, and a robust TOS (Terminal Operating System), ensures a 24×7 precise and efficient operation.

Connectivity


With a 600-meter quay line and comprehensive road and rail connectivity, NSICT becomes the terminal of choice. Multimodal connectivity is a hallmark, strategically located in Navi Mumbai on the West Coast of India.

Road connectivity via National Highway NH-4B and State Highway SH-54, coupled with “last-mile” road connectivity to the Terminal, enhances accessibility.

Rail Connectivity


DP World Nhava Sheva boasts the largest co-efficient of rail traffic in the country. With two sets of railway sidings, it connects to inland container depots (ICD) in Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, and the NCR Region. Handling an average of six trains a day and 160 trains monthly, DP World Nhava Sheva has become a linchpin in India’s rail freight operations.

Reefer Handling Capacity


With a capacity to handle 762 reefers simultaneously, NSICT is a leader in handling temperature-sensitive cargo. In 2021 alone, it managed an impressive total of 68,139 TEUs of reefers.
